The D-Group Leaders Gathering on 1st April brought together past, present, and potential D-Group leaders across the Singapore Adventist Conference for a time of review, feedback, sharing of challenges and testimonies, and looking forward to the discipleship vision of the future.

    Sharing of Experiences

Carolyn Lim shared her struggles in discipling others, and the need to normalise failures, as they are part of the journey. Dina Estrella shared her testimony of how her D-group took the leap of faith to multiply. Despite facing challenges, it turned out to be a fulfilling and energising experience. Pastor Jia Hong also emphasised the importance of a healthy view and practice of discipleship, comparing it to planting trees that bear fruit.

    Participant Feedback

Stephen Lau, Jurong Church Elder, shared, "Our greatest threat is when we stick to the status quo and do nothing. But I strongly believe that as long as we rally together, do our best under the guidance of the Holy Spirit to do discipleship work, we will eventually see results."

    Next Steps

Looking forward, the event organisers have planned two training sessions on Prepare and Sow in the Multiply Cycle. The training is set to take place at Thomson Church on May 5th and 6th. The first session on May 5th, from 7:30 pm-9 pm, will focus on "Prepare: From Strangers to Friends," The second session on May 6th, from 4:30 pm-6:30 pm, will concentrate on "Sow: Bridging from Friends to Seekers."

In conclusion, the D-Group Leaders Gathering provided a platform for leaders to come together, share experiences, and explore the vision for discipleship in the future. Discipling someone can take many years, and it's essential to help people rather than just completing tasks and running programs. Let's continue to rally together and do our best under the guidance of the Holy Spirit to be a disciple-making disciples for Jesus.
