31 youth leaders from our churches participated in a Youth Leaders Retreat from 26-28 January 2024. The retreat's discussions centred on the expectations for the new generation of youth leaders and strategies for enhancing mutual support. Team-building exercises were conducted to foster collaboration, which is crucial for their collective service in the church.
The presence of the Holy Spirit was palpable as participants shared inspiring Bible stories, personal journeys, and deep emotions, fostering a spirit of vulnerability and connection among them. Echoing our theme song, "I see a generation rising up to take their place with selfless faith. I see a near revival stirring as we pray and seek," the leaders committed to God and their ministries. Some expressed a desire to contribute to our youth evangelistic meeting later this year, motivated by a belief in their role as agents of change and encouragement for Adventist youths.
Participant feedback underscored the retreat's success in fostering unity and spiritual growth. Sarah Olivia (SDACC Youth Leader) remarked, "I enjoyed the mass games the most, there were games planned that helped us get to revisit our foundation in God. During that, I also managed to get closer to the youths from other churches."
Jevan Choo (JSDAC Youth Leader) found it "really warm and inspiring to see the old and new generation of youth leaders get together to support and learn from each other," noting the empowering effect on newer leaders.
Tabitha Lai (TCC Youth Leader) appreciated "the opportunity to interact with people whom I have not talked much to in the past," highlighting the retreat's role in building connections across communities.
We view this retreat as the beginning of a broader movement and look forward to upcoming initiatives for SAC and our youth ministries, including revival and evangelistic meetings and combined church programs. The reflections and connections made during this retreat signal a promising future for our youth leadership and the broader Adventist community.
